Festival Victims - dressed for the job

As in the Victorian era when people were expected to change their outfits several times a day appropriately according to what they were doing or attending, I can’t help imagining the equivalent to this today would be dressing appropriately to attend a festival, no matter what you would wear on an everyday basis. The inspiration for this post and an example of this is Wayne Rooney after catching a glimpse of a snap of him and Coleen at Glastonbury. There appears to be a stigma attached to certain items of clothing that associate them with festivals - think scruffy, wellies, a bit of Boho, fringe, denim and 90s grunge. It’s understandable of celebrities who rock this style all the time (Alexa Chung, Zoe Kravitz, Alice Dellal) to take advantage of the scene and dig their best festival-tastic items out of their wardrobes - but others (not only Wayne, but Jaime Winstone with her slightly try-hard fairy wings, hard hat and criminal onesie) turn the whole thing into a bit of a game of dress up, either for performance, or to impress, or even to fit in with the general atmosphere. Then there was Professor Green in a sprightly full tracksuit. Brilliant. And contrary to the media’s opinion, I’m in love with Alex James’ loyalty to his country roots.
