‘Exploring and discussing the DNA of music’: this must be one of my most-visited. Almost every time, the original is better than the cover. It never ceases to surprise me how many new releases are derived from a good sample; next to nothing is new in music nowadays. ‘Sampling is an artform that has spawned many musical genres and underlies a flurry of endless musical creativity.’ Discovering new samples and hunting for and downloading the originals, meanwhile sipping on a cuppa, is my Sunday afternoon of choice - it’s better than Christmas. My love for old school music is almost unnatural, as it’s drawn from the parasitic drug of nostalgia I’m so fond of, which is addictive to say the least. I blame it on the parents.
